Age and Height

Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12th March 1984 which makes her 34 years old as of 2018. She stands at a height of 5 feet 3 inches.

Marriage/Relationships

Shreya Ghoshal is happily married to Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya. Both were childhood friends and tied the knot in February 2015. The couple had been dating for over ten years before finally getting married.

Family

Shreya Ghoshal was born in a Bengali family to Bishwajit Ghoshal and Sarmistha Ghoshal. Her father is an electrical engineer, and her mother is a literature postgraduate. Shreya has one brother, Soumyadeep Ghoshal, who is younger to her.

Career

She started her career by singing her first song ‘Ganraj Rangi Nachato,’ which was a Marathi song’s cover version. Shreya recorded her first album Bendhechhi Beena, which got released in January 1998. A few of her other albums include Ekti Katha (1999), Mukhor Porag (2000), O Tota Pakhi Re, Rupasi Raate (2002), Banomali Re (2002), and Krishna Bina Ache Ke (2007). 

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who got impressed by her sweet and soft voice gave her the opportunity of singing five songs in his movie Devdas in 2002. All these songs were loved by the audience, especially ‘Bairi Piya.’ Up next, she sang three songs for the Desh Devi. Her songs ‘Chalo Tumko Lekar Chale’ and ‘Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai’ became big hits and cemented her position in the industry. She has given her voice in movies like Saaya, Inteha, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, LOC Kargil, Phir Milenge, Muskaan and Main Hoon Na till 2004. 

Her successful songs include ‘Guzar Na Jaye’ (Rog), ‘Agar Tum Mil Jao’ (Zeher),’Bolo To’ (Shabd), ‘Mujhe Haq Hai’ (Vivah), ‘So Jaoon Main’ (Woh Lamhe), ‘Pal Pal’ (Lage Raho Munna Bhai), and 3 songs from the movie Krrish. Other than the Bollywood singing, Shreya made her Tamil debut with the song ‘Yen Chellam (Album), Telugu debut with the movie Okkadu, Kannada debut with ‘Krishna nee began baaro’ (Paris Pranaya), and Malayalam debut with ‘Vida Paravukavano.’ 

She sang ‘Chikni Chameli’ in Agneepath (2012) and three songs for the movie PK in 2014. Further, she sang ‘Thori Der’ from the movie Half Girlfriend (2017). In 2018, Shreya sang a recreated version of ‘Ek Do Teen’ for Baaghi 2 and the title track of the movie Dhadak.

Controversies

KS Chitral (singer) made public comments on music directors preferring Shreya over other great Malayalam singers in the industry.

Favourites

Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Geeta Dutt, Norah Jones, and Beyonce are her favourite singers. Travelling, cooking and reading books are some of her hobbies.

Shreya Ghoshal has won several awards along with the hearts of the people. She has won 6 Filmfare Awards which includes 5 for Best Female Playback Singer, 4 National Film Awards, 9 Filmfare Awards South, 2 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and 3 Kerala State Film Awards.

Forbes list of the top 100 celebrities from India has featured Shreya Ghoshal five times. She is the first Indian singer who has her wax statue in the famous Madame Tussauds Museum.
