With his birthday falling on the 11th day of October, Amitabh is presently 76 years old. He hails from Allahabad. His height is 6 feet and 2 inches.
Before tying the knot with Jaya Bhaduri on the 3rd day of June 1973, he had relationships with Parveen Babi and Rekha.
Amitabh Bachchan is the son of famous Indian poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. His paternal ancestors hail from Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, his mother is a Punjabi-Sikh woman hailing from Lahore city. Amitab is married to Jaya Bhaduri and has two children, Abhishek Bachchan (son) and Shweta Bachchan Nanda (daughter). Aishwarya Rai Bachchan completes his picture-perfect family. Both Abhishek and Shweta have their own kids.
The stardom of Amitabh was not built in a day since he faced many twists and turns in his career.
He studied at Jnana Pramodhini Boys High School (Allahabad). He was alumni first of Sherwood College (Nainital) and later of Kirori Mal College (New Delhi). He holds a Bachelor’s degree under science stream.
It was in the year 1969 that Amitabh directed his focus to contribute towards the Indian Film Industry. At the start of his career, Amitabh worked as a voice narrator. Later, he accomplished the role of one of the seven protagonists for the film Saat Hindustani. Immediately in the year 1971, he starred in conjunction with Rajesh Khanna, the then reckoned movie. Parwana was his next project in the same year but the movie did not create a very good impact.
Sequentially, Bombay to Goa (1972) was his next movie. Undergoing a struggling phase for more than five to six years, Amitabh rose to stardom status from 1973 to 1974. It was during this time, that destiny wiped off his title of the failed newcomer. This was when Amitabh was standing at 30 years of his age.
Zanjeer (1973) earned him a new face in the Indian Film Industry. People started witnessing his charm as an angry young man of Indian Cine Industry. His contributions towards the movies such as Deewar, Trishul, Shakti, and Kaala Patthar all bagged him tremendous glamour. Majorly these movies worked towards unveiling the dark and bright sides of poverty, starvation, unemployment, and corruption.
Abhimaan, Namak Haram, Kunwara Baap, and Dost were some of his next releases. From the phase between 1975 to 1986, Amitabh levelled himself up from the stardom to super-stardom status.
Chupke Chupke (1975), Faraar (1975), Mili (1975) were his first contributions to this era between 1975 to 1986. Sholay (1975) turned out to be the highest grossing film of the year, and it twisted the fate of this magnificent Indian actor. This was proved when he suffered from a fatal type of intestinal injury while shooting for Coolie. Unfortunately, he underwent recuperation for a more extended period than expected.
No sooner was he diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis, he decided to make it a quit from films. Moving further, he stepped in politics. The years 1988 to 1992 witnessed a massive declining career for this established actor of Indian Film Industry. He decided to make a comeback, and once again the box-office marked his prominence and stardom status in 2000.
From 2000 onwards, he became the first and most wanted faces of the reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
In parallel to his stardom status, Amitabh remained encircled by a lot of critics. In the first place, his relationships with Parveen Babi and Rekha proved to be controversial for him. He rose to the center of media limelight when he met with an accident while shooting for Coolie. He was considered to be an active part of the Bofors Scandal. He was even held guilty for submitting false documents to reap out the governmental benefits meant for farmers.
Amongst Indian cuisines, Amitabh Ji loves to have Bhindi Sabzi. Whenever he passes by Jhama Sweets (Chembur), he never misses on his opportunity to lick kheer and gulab jamun. Dilip Kumar and Waheeda Rehman seem to be his all-time favorite actors. He adores the voice of Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
