The Falcon And The Winter Soldier is the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after Avengers: Endgame back from April last year. While MCU Phase 4 was scheduled to begin in May this year with Black Widow in theaters, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed that release to later this year. So, the first Web series, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier bears the burden to continue after that epic ending. Here is what we expect from the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series.
Avengers: Endgame left us with Captain America retiring from his duties, only to leave Falcon in charge. With Sam Wilson or Falcon in charge, this Disney+ series will be the first time in the MCU where we see the superhero taking charge as Captain America.
It is definitely possible that we will see Sam Wilson bearing the trademark Captain shield. He is seen taking over the command from Steve Rogers in the last film.
However, the role of Captain America could be divided amongst Sam and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier. This is because Bucky was Steve's best friend and would want to carry on the legacy.
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will have a total of 6 episodes in the first season, which actor Anthony Mackie claims were shot like a movie.
As for antagonists or the classic MCU villains, we have Civil War villain Baron Zemo returning with this Web series. He was the one who had the idea to split up the Avengers. He was also the one who brainwashed Bucky to work for Hydra. Will be interesting to see how the battle pans out.
And, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will be introducing a major MCU character - John Walker or US Agent. It is being reported that US Agent could be the main villain of the movie in case Zemo is somehow shown as an insider who helps Sam and Bucky.
In that case, US Agent could be the character the US government employs after they aren't happy to learn that Sam is the new Captain America. He could be what an early version of War Machine was to Iron Man.
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier comes out August 2020. Do you have any theories? Leave them in the comments section.
