Rishi Kapoor, one of the biggest legends of Bollywood, recently underwent a procedure in the US for treatment of cancer. Earlier this week, the actor returned to India 11 months and 11 days after first leaving the country. The past one year has seen Rishi Kapoor continuously updating his fans with details from New York, where he had set up base for his treatment. With him back to Mumbai, hopefully hale and hearty, here is a look back at the timeline of Rishi Kapoor's cancer treatment in the US.

On September 29, 2018, Rishi Kapoor posted an update on social media announcing that he would be leaving for the US for treatment. He hadn't specified that he had been diagnosed with cancer, most likely to avoid media presence at the airport. "Hello, all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years “plus” of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!" he said in the post.

Starting in October, personalities from the Bollywood fraternity started visiting Rishi Kapoor in New York, to catch up. Wife Neetu Kapoor keeps posting updates on her Instagram page, as Anupam Kher came to meet the couple while shooting for a series in the US.

Kher was soon followed by Priyanka Chopra, Sonali Bendre, Aamir Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Karan Johar, Rajkumar Hirani, Alia Bhatt, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kapil Dev, and even Mukesh Ambani.

Son Ranbir Kapoor remained a constant support as he frequently visited his ailing father despite his strenuous schedule back home. Anupam Kher, described as a close friend by Rishi Kapoor, also was a constant visitor at their temporary home in New York.

Times New editor Navika Kumar visited the family in late August 2019 to interview them about Rishi Kapoor's journey to beat cancer. Soon after, Neetu Kapoor started uploading Thank You posts for their hosts and friends in the US.

Finally, in September 2019, Rishi Kapoor and his wife arrived back home to Mumbai to a massive reception at the airport itself. With his cancer probably over by now, Rishi Kapoor will look to get back into the game which he has been out of since the past one year or so.
