The BARC or Broadcast Audience Research Council has released TRP numbers for Week 29 of 2020 which show charts for TV shows watched between July 24 and July 30, 2020. It's Unlock time in India which means that lockdown across the country is in process of getting phased out. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah took the top spot completing 12 years and with new episodes coming out this week. Other long-running shows like Kundali Bhagya also took the top spots in the latest TRP charts. Here is a look at a detailed analysis.
According to BARC figures, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was the most watched TV show in India in Week 29 with 64,77,000 impressions. Coming in at a distant second was Anupamaa with 59,42,000 impressions.
Next up was Zee TV's Kundali Bhagya with 53,61,000 impressions in the last week, followed by Colors' Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki on 50,91,000 hits and Choti Sarrdaarni on 48,12,000 impressions.
Long-running Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai from Star Plus saw 47,93,000 impressions this week and Barrister Babu got 47,86,000 views. Reality TV show Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 10 also made it to the list with 46,10,000 impressions mostly because of its season finale.
While Kumkum Bhagya took the 9th spot with 45,23,000 impressions, DD National's Shri Krishna managed to stretch its presence in the top 10 with 44,81,000 impressions.
With these numbers it is clear that the audience prefers long-running shows like Taarak Mehta, Kundali Bhagya, and Kumkum Bhagya to new shows. It would be exciting to see how the situation pans out as we go towards opening up the economy and more and more people leaving their homes.
