Laxmmi Bomb is one of the biggest movies in Bollywood this year. That's because firstly, it is a remake of a popular Tamil film Kanchana 3, and secondly, stars Bollywood star Akshay Kumar in the lead role. A couple of months back, Laxmmi Bomb was confirmed as part of the Disney+ Hotstar VIP Multiplex lineup to release on the OTT streaming platform amidst theater shutdown in India. But with no release date in sight, it seems Laxmmi Bomb might just ditch Disney+ Hotstar and go for a full-blown theatrical release later this year. We bring you the scoop.
A new report by Pinkvilla cites a source to claim that Laxmmi Bomb has been postponed till Diwali 2020 and will release on OTT. According to them, the tentative release date is November 13 on Disney+ Hotstar. A certain amount of post-production is left to be completed.
"A little bit of post-production work is remaining which also includes some patchwork. So once Akshay Kumar returns from London after Bell Bottom shoot, the team of Laxmmi Bomb will wrap those portions. Meanwhile, the film is already on the edit table and readied to meet the deadline," the Pinkvilla quoted the source.
However, while tipsters on social media confirm the Diwali delay, they also claim the movie will ditch OTT and go to movie theaters, which are expected to open up by November this year.
That said, there is still no official announcement on this news. Back in April, we first reported that Laxmmi Bomb was heading to OTT platforms after an Eid theatrical release was shunned.
