Bollywood has a lot in store in terms of releases for next year and we expect the box office to help them rake in a lot of moolah with domestic and international collections. From Karan Johar's Takht to Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha, here are 5 upcoming big-budget movies releasing in India this year.

1. Chhapaak release date in India

The first big-budget movie of 2020 that is highly anticipated is Chhapaak. Deepika Padukone stars as Malti, a character based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal and is scheduled to release on January 10, 2020. Vikrant Massey plays Amol, a social activist (and later Malti’s partner) inspired by the character of Alok Dixit. This is also Padukone's first project as a producer.

2. Takht release date in India

Dubbed the desi Game of Thrones of India, Takht is an upcoming Karan Johar period drama based in the Mughal era. Takht features a boastful ensemble cast including the likes of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor among others. Takht filming is said to have begun in September 2019. Takht release date in India is not announced yet.

3. Lal Singh Chaddha release date in India

Lal Singh Chaddha marks Aamir Khan's return to Bollywood after the dismal performance of Thugs of Hindostan. Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump and releases in India on Christmas 2020. Kareena Kapoor Khan will also be seen in the lead role.

4. RRR release date in India

With a release date of July 30, 2020, and a budget of around Rs 400 crores, RRR is possibly the most ambitious movie project in India. Directed by Baahubali director SS Rajamouli, RRR is a fictional story revolving around India's freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. RRR release date in India is not out yet.

5. '83 release date in India

'83 is an upcoming sports drama film that recreates India's wondrous cricket World Cup victory of 1983. Directed by Kabir Khan, '83 stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Harrdy Sandhu, and Pankaj Tripathi in prominent roles. The movie releases on April 2020.
