War is one of the biggest Hindi movies of 2019. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, War has raked in a lot of moolah at the Indian and international box office with more than Rs 400 crores gross collection since its theatrical release on October 2. Sources now suggest to us that War will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on the last Friday of November 2019. Here are the details.

MetaReel has learnt from sources that War release date on Prime Video is November 29. Just recently, Amazon Prime Video is said to have partnered with War producer YRF for exclusive digital streaming rights. We can expect the streaming platform to release the Bollywood movie this month itself, despite a standard 2-month cooling period after theatrical release. While the exact release date wasn't revealed to us, a November end release for a movie of this magnitude always means a Friday release.

With this move, Prime Video might be looking to take on Netflix, which has plans to release its big-budget original movie, Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, on November 27. While the target audiences might be varied, the release of War on Prime Video is expected to create a chatter among the subscriber base.

War is an action thriller flick directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films. It tells the story of an Indian soldier assigned to eliminate his former mentor who has gone rogue. On a budget of about Rs 150 crores, War made more than Rs 450 crores worldwide.

Streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Hotstar have been in the race to bring the latest and greatest Bollywood movies to the digital space. Whether be it Kabir Singh on Netflix, Chhichhore on Hotstar, or Student of the Year 2 on Amazon Prime Video, the contracts have allowed streaming platforms to bring these commercial hits online in around 8 weeks of theatrical release.
