Dil Bechara is the latest Hindi film set to debut exclusively on streaming platforms. Sushant Singh Rajput's last film in Bollywood will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar VIP next month, in July 2020. Earlier scheduled to release in movie theaters across the country, Dil Bechara is the latest film to go straight to digital. Dil Bechara release date

Dil Bechara release date in India and other countries is July 24, 2020. Instead of a theatrical release, Dil Bechara will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, as part of the Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription.

However, as a one-off case, it has been announced that Sushant Singh Rajput's last film will be available for streaming for both subscribers as well as non-subscribers on Disney+ Hotstar.

Production timeline

Dil Bechara principal photography started in July 2018 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, and concluded after a few months in Paris, France. In February 2019, the movie received its new title and has since been pending release.

Dil Bechara cast

Dil Bechara stars the late Sushant Singh Rajput alongside debutante Sanjana Sanghi. While the former will play the role of Manny and the latter will play Kizie. Apart from these two, Saif Ali Khan is expected to play the role of Aftab Khan. Javed Jaffrey and Milind Gunaji will likely also be seen in the film.

Dil Bechara story / plot

Dil Bechara is an official adaptation of the 2012 novel The Fault in Our Stars. It is the first Hindi adaptation of the book, which has been released with the same name in Hollywood in 2014.

Going by the book, Dil Bechara's story will be inspired from the story of a young boy and girl who are cancer patients. It shows the joyful life of the couple and how they attempt to live to the fullest with their fragile health.

Dil Bechara has been directed by debutant Mukesh Chhabra. He has previously been associated as a veteran casting director on movies like Rockstar, Gangs of Wasseypur, Shahid, Kai Po Che, Haider, and many more. Dil Bechara marks his directorial debut.

Screenplay for the movie is by Shashank Khaitan and Suprotim Sengupta, having adapted it from John Green's book The Fault in Our Stars. AR Rahman is Dil Bechara's music director with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Cinematography is being handled by Setu (Satyajit Pande), while Deepa Bhatia is the film editor. The movie will be produced by Fox Star Studios.
