Akshay Kumar is one of the actors with the most unique career trajectory in the Hindi film industry today. Kumar started off his career in Bollywood with dozens of action movies, only to then move on to the comedy genre. However, recently, the superstar has shifted his focus to movies that touch upon social issues in India. Some of his recent and upcoming movies, including Mission Mangal, PadMan, and Toilet, are related to the social developments in the country. Reports coming in now suggest Akshay Kumar's next movie could see him starring as India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Here are the details.
According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Akshay Kumar is set to reunite with director Neeraj Pandey (Baby, Special 26) for Pandey's upcoming thriller flick on the lines of Baby. A source has revealed to the publication that this movie will be based on the life story of India's current National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
In fact, the source claims that the work on the movie's script has begun, however Neeraj Pandey is currently equipped with Ajay Devgn's Chanakya. Additionally, Akshay Kumar is also engrossed with other committments and it might be months before the project materialises.
This might not be the first time when Ajit Doval has been portrayed on the big screen. Earlier this year, Paresh Rawal played Govind Bharadwaj, a character loosely based on the NSA, in Uri: The Surgical Strike.
Ajit Doval is currently one of the most prominent faces in Indian politics. A confidant of Narendra Modi, Doval started out as an IPS officer with the Kerala cadre in its 1968 batch. He has since been involved with several anti-insurgency operations in and out of India. He negotiated the release of hijacked passengers in IC 814. Much recently, Ajit Doval has played a vital role in improving India's strength against Pakistan and China.
